On Tuesday, June 23, the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) will make a ruling on a proposal for a gradual plan to make the shot clock a part of GHSA basketball. It will be a part of the State Executive Committee's delayed "Spring" meeting - to be held at the Thomaston-Upson County Civic Center.
Join us at 9am tomorrow to discuss the GHSA Shot Clock scenario and what tomorrow's ruling will mean for GHSA basketball over the next few years. We'll also host a recap chat to discuss the ruling at 8pm ET.
The proposal, created by Rory Welsh - head coach for the Langston Hughes HS boys basketball team - is backed by a wide range of coaches across Georgia and beyond. While opinions are divided depending on coaching strategy and other factors, the shot clock's value outweighs any concerns of cost, equipment, and personnel - especially when there are groups willing to attack the transition head-on.
